The happiest of news. I've officially earned myself an internship position at a local Sacramento publication called Sacramento Press Magazine. This is an online publication specializing in all things Sacramento and Northern California and I absolutely LOVE IT!
My amazing editor, Bethany Harris has offered me a position unique to typical internships in that I essentially get to choose the stories and subjects that I will be covering. This, while incredibly liberating has also proven to be a bit of a challenge. Rather than following a set of standards and direction, I am essentially responsible for finding my own content in addition to ensuring its quality.
The most exciting thing about this new endeavor is that not only am I gaining experience as a writer, but I am learning more about my environment. Over the last two years I have grown to fall deeply in love with Northern California. Needless to say, I am giddy over this opportunity.
My editor and I have narrowed my specific areas of focus down to cultural experience like local travel, food, drink, art, and music. I have press access to events in and around Sacramento and support for traveling around the area as well. In the last few months I have submitted and published three separate articles, one of which I am very excited about as it supports a business that a few good friends of mine are expanding on.
In the following posts I will link to all of my articles and I only hope that my readers enjoy the content as much as I have enjoyed sharing!
So go with me on a journey through the City of Trees!
